Back to the Drawing Board: My 30-Day Challenge
Share
I KNOW MORE
NOW THAN
WHEN I STARTED.
I’ve spent hours building, changing, learning, fixing and sometimes overthinking Grumpy O.G. Along the way, I learned a lot. I also made more mistakes than I probably want to count.
Some of those mistakes came from simply not knowing better. Others came from impatience, procrastination, inconsistency and a lack of discipline.
I can admit that. And instead of pretending everything is going exactly according to plan, I’m going back to the drawing board.
To start moving differently.
LESS SALESMAN.
MORE PERSONAL.
One of the biggest things I’ve realized is that I’ve spent too much time trying to sell.
Check out this design.
Shop this collection.
Look at this new product.
There’s nothing wrong with promoting a business. At some point, a business has to sell something.
But I don’t want every interaction with Grumpy O.G. to feel like an advertisement.
There is a person behind this brand. There is a process behind every design. There are mistakes, ideas, setbacks, good days, bad days, responsibilities, bills, work, family, pressure and real life happening behind everything people eventually see on the website.
The process matters too.
THE PART
I HAVE TO OWN.
It would be easy to blame algorithms, money, lack of time, social media or a hundred other things for not being where I want to be.
But that wouldn’t tell the whole story.
I’ve been undisciplined.
I’ve put things off.
I’ve allowed frustration to affect my attitude.
Sometimes I’ve spent more time thinking about what I need to accomplish than actually accomplishing it.
That has to change.
stays an idea.
30 DAYS.
For the next 30 days, I’m challenging myself to become more productive, more disciplined and more intentional.
But this isn’t only a business challenge.
It’s personal.
I want to use my time better. Finish more of what I start. Procrastinate less. Become more consistent. Stop expecting immediate results from things that require time. And become better at trusting the process while still holding myself accountable for the work.
I’M NOT CHASING
30 PERFECT DAYS.
I don’t expect every day to go according to plan.
There will probably be days when I don’t feel productive. Something will go wrong. Plans will change. I’ll probably make another mistake.
That isn’t the point.
Maybe part of discipline is learning how quickly you can recognize it, correct it and get back to work.
WHAT I WANT
TO BE ABLE TO SAY.
Thirty days from now, I want to come back and read this.
Of course I want Grumpy O.G. to be in a better position. I want better content. A better website. Stronger designs. I want the business to grow.
to myself.
I showed up. I became more disciplined. I became more productive. I handled frustration differently.
I stopped waiting until I felt motivated and started doing more of what needed to be done.
DAY
ONE.
So this is me going back to the drawing board.
Not because I’m quitting. Not because everything I’ve done was wrong. And not because I suddenly have everything figured out.
I’m going back because I know more now than I did when I started.
Better Discipline.
Better Habits.
Better Attitude.
More Consistency.
More Belief In The Process.
